London Travel Recommendation: King’s Cross Station First Class Lounge (LNER First Class Lounge)
Located inside London’s King’s Cross Station, the LNER First Class Lounge is a must-visit for travelers heading to Cambridge via London North Eastern Railway (LNER). There are several ways to travel to Cambridge, but thanks to the Eurail Global Pass First Class ticket or the BritRail Pass First Class ticket, passengers can access this lounge. During my European trip, I found London’s train travel experience the most convenient. The Eurail Global Pass First Class ticket is highly beneficial for travelers, offering free access to various VIP lounges across the UK. These lounges provide an assortment of snacks and even bread, while the First Class train cabins serve outstanding meals. Therefore, I highly recommend getting a Eurail Global Pass First Class ticket for anyone traveling to the UK.

Where is the LNER First Class Lounge at King’s Cross Station?

The LNER First Class Lounge is located inside King’s Cross Station. A notable landmark to recognize is the station’s iconic lattice dome. King’s Cross Station serves domestic routes, while Eurostar trains arrive at St Pancras Station, which is just a short walk away.

To find the LNER First Class Lounge, simply enter the main hall. You’ll likely see a long queue at the famous Platform 9¾. The lounge is not far to the right of this area, marked clearly with a large LNER First Class Lounge sign.
Introduction to LNER First Class Lounge at King’s Cross Station

The LNER First Class Lounge is situated on the second floor of the station. Travelers with luggage can take the dedicated elevator to reach the entrance.

Entry is allowed for passengers holding a valid First Class ticket for LNER trains, within two hours of departure. Simply generate a QR code and scan it at the entrance for access.

One of the best features of the lounge is the free restroom, saving money that would otherwise be spent on paid station toilets.
Lounge Experience

The LNER First Class Lounge offers a refined and elegant ambiance, with a red and gray color scheme similar to Austrian station lounges. The colors also match the LNER trains.
King’s Cross Station is a major hub, so it was no surprise that the lounge was fully occupied. It appears that British travelers are more willing to upgrade to First Class compared to other European countries. During my journey through various European train station lounges, I found the UK lounges to be the busiest, likely due to their excellent services.
Lounge Facilities
The LNER First Class Lounge features a digital screen displaying upcoming train departures, times, and platforms, but only for LNER trains.
Surprisingly, passengers not traveling on LNER trains can also access the lounge, making British train services incredibly generous!

Upon entering, free chilled bottled water is available.

At the central island-style counter, guests can enjoy a variety of snacks, including crisps, biscuits, bread, and peanuts. Beverages include orange juice, hot water, tea bags, coffee, milk pods, and oat milk pods. I initially mistook the triangular oat milk pods for a drink and almost consumed them straight—what a surprise!

The fresh milk is stored inside the refrigerated cabinet.
Seating & Views

Seats by the window are highly sought after and almost always occupied. However, I managed to take a photo of the train platform view, where the LNER trains in signature red color are clearly visible.
Convenient Exit

Upon leaving, there is no need to take the elevator back to the main hall. The lounge has a dedicated exit leading directly to the platform, making boarding incredibly convenient.
Overall, my experience at the LNER First Class Lounge was fantastic, and I commend British train services. I also visited the GWR First Class Lounge and West Coast Train First Class Lounge, and each one was outstanding.
For train travelers, I strongly recommend getting a Eurail Global Pass First Class ticket, which grants free access to these lounges.
Final Verdict:
- UK train lounges rank No.1
- Austrian train lounges rank No.2
