Introduction to Euston Station First Class Lounge
The Euston Station First Class Lounge, officially known as the Avanti West Coast First Class Lounge, is operated by Avanti West Coast. Euston Station is a terminus station and the southernmost terminal of the West Coast Main Line, serving destinations across the West Midlands, North West England, North Wales, and Scotland. The station accommodates short-distance, long-distance, and sleeper trains to the Scottish Highlands, with long-distance services reaching as far as Glasgow and Edinburgh. This time, I visited Euston Station early in the morning to catch a train to Birmingham.
Where is Euston Station?

I arrived at Euston Station at 7 AM, bright and early. Compared to St. Pancras Station, Euston is a bit further away, so if you’re planning to take an Avanti West Coast train to other parts of the UK, it’s best to allow extra travel time. Personally, I find it a bit tricky to reach. One option is to walk from St. Pancras Station to King’s Cross Underground Station and take the Tube to Euston. Alternatively, you could walk directly from St. Pancras to Euston Station.

The streets of London in the early morning were bustling with cars, proving that the stereotype of Europeans waking up late isn’t always true!

The Euston Underground Station is directly connected to Euston Station, so once you reach the ground level, you’ll find yourself in the main concourse.

This is the general waiting area, which is well-equipped compared to many other stations.

Before heading to Birmingham, I took a quick look at the platform area to avoid any last-minute confusion. Unlike other train stations where you can go straight to the platform, Euston Station has a boarding gate system, similar to an airport departure gate. Platforms only open for boarding shortly before departure.

Regional trains heading to smaller UK towns are typically older models.
Where is the Euston Station First Class Lounge?

The Euston Station First Class Lounge is located on the second floor, directly opposite the large electronic departure board. Just look for the red “First Class Lounge” sign.
Inside the Euston Station First Class Lounge

Once inside, you just need to scan your First Class ticket QR code at the reception. I accessed the lounge using my Eurail Global Pass First Class ticket, but holders of the UK Rail First Class Pass can also enter.
I previously wrote about the King’s Cross Station LNER First Class Lounge, which was already impressive. However, Euston Station’s First Class Lounge completely exceeded my expectations—it’s even more luxurious!

Like other lounges, there’s a departure screen displaying train schedules and platforms.
Lounge Amenities & Food

The moment I saw the bar counter, I knew this lounge was on another level. Did you know First Class train tickets in the UK are incredibly expensive? If you’re traveling to a destination served by Avanti West Coast, I highly recommend using this lounge if it’s on your route.

One of the best parts? They serve alcohol! Although I wasn’t quite ready for a morning drink, it’s still a great perk.

They also offer a variety of snacks, including yogurt, bread, cookies, and fresh fruit.

The most impressive selection? Smoked salmon with cream cheese and cantaloupe! It’s delicious, and you can take as much as you want.

Beverages are self-service, including sparkling water, energy drinks, and juices.

Next to the smoked salmon station, there’s a coffee bar with a barista making freshly brewed coffee. There’s also a self-service coffee machine if you don’t want to bother the staff.

Comfortable Seating & Work Areas

This lounge is spacious with plenty of seating options, so you’ll always find a comfortable and private spot.

There’s also a quiet workspace section, ideal for business travelers, with plenty of charging ports.
Additional Perks: Shower Facilities

One major advantage over King’s Cross Station’s LNER First Class Lounge is that Euston Station’s lounge includes showers! This is a feature also available at Paddington Station’s First Class Lounge, but not at King’s Cross.
Overall, if you’re purchasing a First Class train ticket, don’t miss out on this incredible lounge! As long as you have a valid same-day Eurail Global Pass First Class ticket or a UK Rail First Class Pass, you can enter.
